Grant Writing & Fundraising Communications is an online course the teaches the ins and outs of this little-known market. Working in grant writing and fundraising can provide a plump monthly retainer or a many-thousand-dollar check for a single written piece. Class participants learn to write grants, donor proposals and other materials, identify markets and locate the people with the power to hire. Course materials include six detailed lessons, a glossary, and interviews I conducted with four other successful grant writers and a university executive who hires writers.
I’ve worked for nearly 20 years in fundraising, including stints as senior editor at a $1 billion foundation and freelance work for several universities. My successes range from a $450,000 grant for the Kansas Rural Center to a $10 million gift for Purdue University. I’ve also taught writing at the University of Kansas and Michigan State University.
This course is on hiatus, but I am considering offering it again either as an online class or as a private tutorial. Let me know what you think!
